On 10 March 2023 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China announced that the People's Republic of China joined the Apostille Convention, which agreement was signed in the Hague on 5 October 1961. The Agreement on the authentication of the origin of a public document without diplomatic legalization will enter into force on 7 November 2023.
Under the terms of this agreement, Apostille Certificates will be issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the the People’s Republic of China for Chinese mainland documents to be used abroad. From this date onwards, the Embassy of Hungary in Beijing will no longer issue diplomatic legalization of such documents.
